Sofi's 6 months old!

So the last month has been a mess of ups and downs. We lost both Tasha and Eco less than a month apart, and I think writing about it might be a good cathartic experience for me, but every time I even think about it I become a complete mess, so that'll have to wait.

But the ups... the ups have everything to do with our two little bugs.

Today, Sofi is 6-months old, which is crazy to think about. She is a mellow and happy baby. She sleeps really well and is usually pretty content watching the world around her, especially if she gets to watch Nico play. She can definitely be loud if she wants to be heard, and she will definitely let us know when she's not happy.
Peaceful sleeper
A week or two ago we started her on solids. For a few weeks now she's been attentively watching us eat and really trying to grab at our food, but now that we're offering her the stuff she acts like she can take it or leave it. We've tried squash, carrots, apple sauce and sweet potatoes, but she's not super impressed.

Her hair is out of control! She has a little bit of a bald spot in the back of her head where she lays, but for the most part it's grown a lot. But not enough to really do much with it yet so it mostly looks scraggly. I keep meaning to get some little hair bands to try some stuff out but just haven't gotten to it. I'm sure if Aba was around she could find the clippers and get to work, but I'm not doing that any time soon, fortunately!
Hair!
I am so grateful to have Diana living her now for all the time that the kids get to spend with her - not just because it's an amazing help, but it's a real gift for them to have that time with family. And after a little bit of a rough start, she seems to have settled pretty well with Allison, her nanny, and Charlie, the almost-one-year-old that Allison also watches.

She rolls all over the place when we lay her on the floor, and she is getting better and better at sitting up - though she still needs some support. She absolutely loves bath time and gets super excited when the water's going and we start to get her ready for bath.
Toes!
She is mellow, and calm, and happy, just like her brother was. And yet they are so different! As much as she likes to watch like Nico did, you can tell that she's just itching to participate and be involved. Here's Nico's blog post from when he was 6 months.

And Nico's love and attention for his sister continues to melt my heart. He constantly wants to give her hugs and kisses and cuddles. He worries about her when she cries, and wants to help when she gets a diaper change. He talks to her constantly and always makes sure she has a toy or cuddly animal to keep her entertained. When we talked about having a second child and the age difference we wanted there to be between them, we talked about two years with the hope that they would be close, and even though I know things change, I love to watch the love and care that they already show for each other.
Group cuddles
The big news with my little guy is that he is now potty trained! At the beginning of our 2-week holiday break he asked to wear underwear one day and we just went with it. The second day he asked for diapers again, but we told him he was a big boy and had to wear underwear now, and he's been great since! He's still wearing diapers at nap time and bed time, and we still have a few accidents, but he is doing fantastically and it is so great to be moving past that phase with him!
"cheeeeeese"
He loves his time with Gramma, and even though he often fusses about going to Kids' Place when we're leaving in the morning, once he's there he absolutely loves it. He gets along with every kid there, but especially with his dear friend Malcolm, and it is just adorable to watch them play and show affection for each other - they give each other the biggest hugs at the end of the day!

He is sweet and attentive and playful, and I love him to pieces.
